Updates from Mr. B:
Sierra Wilds Update
Yesterday, we sent an important letter regarding our next steps with the possible Sierra Wilds Development next to our school. In case you missed it, this letter is available here. An important component of the upcoming legal action is a GoFundMe campaign that’s been started to help offset the legal costs. Moving forward, we are going to be regularly promoting this campaign as well as providing regular updates with regards to where we are at within the legal process.
CA Dashboard Update
Some families have noticed other schools promoting/celebrating their California Dashboard data that was released earlier this month. MMCA’s CA Dashboard data is available here. Summarized, we are “blue” or “green” for every whole school metric (“blue” and “green” are the highest levels within the Dashboard). This is comparable to the past several years where MMCA earned multiple “California Distinguished School” designations. I’d like to congratulate our students for their hard work, and I’d like to thank our instructional staff - these consistent, excellent results are a testament to their professionalism and dedication to our students.
Annual Income Survey
Reminder! Thank you to those families who have completed the annual income survey emailed earlier this week. If you have not had a chance to complete this quick 4 question survey, please do so here.
Why Is the Family Income Survey Important?
Your family’s income information helps MMCA receive important state funding and qualify for grants that directly benefit our students.
Families who qualify may also receive additional benefits, including school clothing assistance through the Placer County Assistance League, reduced Before/Aftercare fees and more.
All information is kept strictly confidential.
We ask that every MMCA family complete the survey. We will follow up with families until all surveys have been received.
Thank you for helping support our school and students!
Campus Spotlight
This week, we’re spotlighting our entire campus as we celebrate another amazing Cultural Day at MMCA!
Cultural Day is a long-standing MMCA tradition that brings learning to life! Each grade level explores a unique theme, giving students the opportunity to research, learn and share their knowledge in fun and creative
ways.
Cultural Day themes included:
Children’s House: Animals
Kindergarten: Community Helpers
1st Grade: American Icons
2nd & 3rd Grade: Innovators and Inventors
4th–6th Grade: Historical Figures
7-8th Grade: Students’ Cultural Heritage
From creative costumes and delicious foods to engaging presentations by fellow students, Cultural Day is always a wonderful celebration of learning.

Carrying Responsibility Forward
As we wrap up our official month of Responsibility, our goal is to keep this momentum going all year long! We are so proud of how our students have worked to be dependable, follow through on promises, and make smart choices. Let’s keep asking our kids reflective questions at home to challenge them to keep choosing responsibility every single day!

Thank you to all of our Watch DOGS this week: Mr. Baldwin, Mr. Shimazu and Mr. Helsel!
Athletics Update
We are so proud of all of our Mustang athletes and everything they accomplished this season. Here is a Fall Season recap:
🏈 Boys Flag Football
Our Boys Flag Football team wrapped up an amazing season! After starting with an 0 - 2 record, the boys came together, worked hard, and turned things around to finish with an impressive 7 - 4 winning record!
With only one 8th grader on the roster, our young team showed incredible determination and teamwork throughout the season!
A special shoutout to Mr. Allen, who joined our superstar Coach Mikels for his first year as Assistant Coach! We loved having him on the sidelines!
🏀 Girls Basketball
Our Girls Basketball teams wrapped up their successful seasons as well! Our League had 12 teams competing this year - our JV girls finished in 3rd place at 8-3, and our VAR girls finished tied for 5th place at 7-6. This year we had girls with a wide range of basketball experience - from elite AAU club level to kids who had never played basketball before, and everything in between. It was great to see the group come together and grow as a team!
👟 Cross Country
What another outstanding Cross Country season with Coach Lindsay!
We had an incredible 43 students participate this year! We even had a special surprise at our final race when Marcelo Saavedra came out of retirement to join the fun, running an impressive 7:01 mile!
🏅 Our top runners this season were Kiley White, Bea Aguinaldo, Skye Harbov, Marco Cardiasmenos, Kayla Kawaguchi, Kyle Kawaguchi and Brandon Makimoto!
🔥 Kyle and Brandon finished together at our final race, clocking the fastest mile time of the season at an amazing 6:39!
⭐ A special shoutout to Quest Lavin and Maddux Melendez, who, as 3rd graders, led the pack of 4th grade runners!
All of our runners gave it their all and we couldn't be prouder!
WAY TO GO MUSTANGS! 💙⭐💚⭐
