Thursday Flyer 10.1.2020

Upcoming Events:

NO SCHOOL Friday, October 9th and Monday, October 12th (Fall Break)

Reopening Updates:

It’s been GREAT to see kids at school again! First, a couple ‘reminder’ documents:

Our "What happens if?" document includes a) the DAILY symptom check we're asking parents to do at home before they bring kids to school, b) what happens when there's been close contact / potential exposure to COVID-19, c) our return to school policy after you’ve been sick during COVID-19, and much more. This is available here:

Second, as we start seeing activity in our parking lots again with drop-off / pick-up, we’ve got a diagram with our drop-off / pick-up rules, and it’s available at the end of this Flyer.

Next, I have two NEW updates:

School Calendar: Our School Calendar for this year has been slightly revised to reflect 1) NO Goal Setting Conferences or MINIMUM DAYS in October and 2) the Parent-Teacher Conferences have been moved to the week before Thanksgiving Break. The link to the updated calendar is below. Given all of the ‘unique’ elements of our temporary Hybrid Schedule and just finally being able to bring kids to school this week, I did not think it would be appropriate to disrupt our routines even more by doing P-T conferences right now. Here’s the link to our School Calendar webpage: https://www.mmcharter.org/school-calendar. Additionally, a picture of the revised calendar is available at the end of this Flyer.

Instructional Delivery Methods moving forward:

This week our Board agreed to tie our K-8th Grade instructional delivery method to the state’s “Reopen California” color matrix. I believe other school districts (Roseville, Dry Creek, Eureka, with most others to follow) will soon be doing this as well. After our four weeks of the County Public Health mandated hybrid period is completed at the end of October, our Instructional Delivery Method will be based on the state’s ‘reopening’ levels:

Obviously, this continues to be a very fluid situation - if things change, we’ll let you know. Similarly, we will do our best to give everyone at least 10 days notice on an Instructional Delivery Method Switch.

Medications

Don’t forget to have the appropriate paperwork filled out by you and signed by your child’s doctor along with the medications they might need while on campus. Medications should be in their original prescription container.

Data Confirmation

We have about 40% of the students who still haven’t completed the Data Confirmation. Please log into your Portal Account with Aeries (https://aeriesportal.placercoe.k12.ca.us/Parent/MMCA/LoginParent.aspx ) and complete the data confirmation. After logging in, go to the Student Info tab and select Data Confirmation. It will have you confirm parent contact info, emergency contact info, medical information, read and acknowledge several policies, etc. Then please print the emergency card, review, sign, and bring it to the office. It is important that we have all contact and medical information on your child's emergency card. We will refer to this if there is ever a medical emergency with your child. UPDATE: We only have 12% of our students with current emergency cards.

If you have any questions about Data Confirmation or Emergency Cards (like whether or not you have completed your child’s), please contact Denise Thorman at dthorman@mmcharter.org.

Hot Lunch Reminders

Lunches will be heated and served daily based on what class/grade your child is in. We only get reimbursement for meals that are served. Please make every effort to pick up your meals that you order. The schedule can be found here: https://www.mmcharter.org/post/9-18-2020-parents-update-return-to-site-based-instruction-september-28-2020

If you haven’t done so yet, please fill out the free and reduced application found here: https://c42096c6-2e4d-493d-bdff-126f872232dd.filesusr.com/ugd/4b8266_991b84cfd9474bd5aced4f09bb25a53c.pdf. Thanks to the federal program, it doesn’t matter whether or not you qualify for free lunch, everyone in your household 18 years of age or younger will be eligible for a free lunch through December. Please fill this application out and either email it to hotlunch@mmcharter.org or drop it off at our front office.
