Principal’s Message
WOW! What a successful first couple of days back at school! It has been wonderful welcoming our students and families back to campus and seeing the excitement for the new school year.
As we look ahead to our first full week of school, please take note of these important reminders:
TUESDAY, AUGUST 25th
Minimum Day - All K–8th grade students will be released at 12:00pm
Free Dress Day - Our first free dress day of the school year!
New Family Presentation | 6:00–6:30pmFamilies who are new to MMCA are invited to join us in the Multi-Purpose Room for a presentation designed especially for our new families.
Back to School Night – Tuesday, August 25 | 6:30–7:30pmWe encourage all families to attend this important evening. Back to School Night is a great opportunity to learn more about your child(ren)’s classroom(s), meet teachers, and hear about classroom routines, expectations, and what to look forward to this school year.
We look forward to another wonderful week and to seeing everyone at Back to School Night!

Parent Handbook and Important Notes for the School Year
If you haven’t already had an opportunity to read our Parent Handbook, please do so prior to next week. This document will answer most of your questions that you may have. If not, please feel free to reach out to our office during office hours, M-F, 8-3:30 pm. and we will be happy to assist.
One change for this school year pertains to our Student Personal Electronic Device Policy:
Student use of personal electronic devices is prohibited during school hours. This policy complies with California's new Phone-Free Schools Act (Assembly Bill 3216). It applies to all K-8th grade students at Maria Montessori Charter Academy (MMCA).
The goal of this policy is to support student focus and well-being. The entire policy can be found here.
Athletics Update
Boys Flag Football Season
Who can tryout: MMCA boys in 5th – 8th grade
Tryouts: Tryouts will be after school on August 26 and 27. Team rosters will be posted in the MPR on August 28. In order to try out, players should have a t-shirt, shorts and appropriate footwear. First practice will be on Monday, August 31 and the first game is Wednesday, September 2.
Girls Basketball Season
Who can tryout: MMCA girls in 5th – 8th grade
Tryouts: Tryouts will be after school on Wednesday, 8/26 and Thursday 8/27. In order to try out, players should have a t-shirt, shorts and appropriate footwear. First practice will be Monday, 8/31 and the first game is Tuesday, 9/8.
Free Dress Days
Besides the scheduled Free Dress Days, our student leadership will plan some fun spirit days for this school year. Information will be shared as the school year progresses.
September Menu
Weekly ordering deadlines are SUNDAYS at 11:59pm (1 week ahead) for meals served the following Monday through Friday. Late requests cannot be accommodated. To order go to: https://mmca.boonli.com Password is: MMCA1. Email JMikels@mmcharter.org with any questions!
