Sierra Wilds Development Update

We would like to thank everyone who attended the Rocklin City Council meeting this week, as well as those who watched from home. We are also incredibly grateful for the support of our MMCA community as we continue to navigate this process together.

This week’s City Council meeting involved several hours of questions and answers between the City and the developer. As the meeting approached 11:00 p.m., MMCA had not yet been given the opportunity to speak, present our slideshow, or allow sufficient time for public comment. As a result, the City made the decision to continue the hearing until August 11, 2026.

Between now and then, we will be working closely with legal counsel to further explore our best options.

At its April 2026 Board meeting, the MMCA Board of Directors voted to authorize the creation of a Legal Defense Fund (LDF). The intent of this fund is for donations to be used either for legal expenses related to protecting our school or for potential land acquisition opportunities. All donated funds will be subject to strict audit requirements, and all donations are fully tax-deductible.

Those interested in contributing may do so by clicking here.  The LDF is about saving the garden, saving the preschool playground, and protecting our school.

If you have questions regarding the proposed Sierra Wilds Project, please feel free to contact me at brent@mmcharter.org.

Community members may also wish to review information provided by the independent community organization, the Urban Ethics Coalition, available here.

In addition, the slideshow that was prepared for this week’s meeting can be viewed here.  We also prepared an Information Binder to assist City Council Members in their deliberation process and share MMCA’s perspective on this potential transaction.  An electronic copy of this Information Binder, and all of the linked documents associated with it, is available here.

Dress Like Your Teacher Day

We had such fun with our students dressing up like staff members to cap off Teacher Appreciation week.  Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us to show the love to our staff.

Garden Update

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Big Day of Giving event! We raised $4,000 for the garden!

We would like to invite you to visit the garden and our new greenhouse during Open House. There will be iced tea and strawberry shortcake for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you again for supporting our students and helping our garden continue to grow!
