State CAASPP Testing REMINDER

For the first time since 2019, we are going to be doing CAASPP testing. CAASPP is the state’s testing system for 3rd - 8th Grade students in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and for 5th/8th graders, Science. Testing for each grade level will take four days (five for 5th/8th graders). For the next three weeks, assuming they’re not sick, PLEASE make sure your child(ren) are at school.

Big Day of Giving THANK YOU and Update

THANK YOU to all of the families that supported our BDOG campaign for our MMCA Garden and Outdoor Classroom! We raised over $2300 last week!

Summer Camp 2022!

Our Summer Camp 2022 website is LIVE and available HERE. Sign up by this Friday for a $100/wk camp rate! We’re going to be trying something different this year - instead of weekly camp-based themes, we are going to go with DAILY THEMES. We will also be continuing our popular ‘water’ and ‘riding your bike at school’ days as well.

Also, heads up: With one of our staff members going on a maternity leave this summer, we’re looking for people interested in working some shifts for our Summer Camp this year. If interested, please contact Mr. B at brent@mmcharter.org.

Spring 2022 Scholastic Book Fair is coming up!

The Spring Book Fair is coming up, starting at 2pm on 5/16 and running through 4pm on 5/20. Here’s a link with information about the Book Fair, as well as information on how to volunteer.:

Book Fair hours: Mornings 8-8:30a, Mon. 2-4pm, Tues. 2-4pm, Wed. 2-4pm and 6-7:30p, Thu. 2-4pm, Fri. 2-4pm

Summer School 2022

Yesterday, we sent email invitations to the parents of about 25% of our student population in grades 1st - 8th for our upcoming Summer School. These invitations were based on our teachers prioritizing the students within their classrooms that they think would benefit most from Summer School. On next Thursday, 5/18/22, we will open up Summer School enrollment to the rest of our 1st-8th grade students on a first come, first served basis, until we’ve hit our program’s capacity.

Like last year (and next year), we are able to offer Summer School this year via our COVID-19 Learning Loss Recovery related plans.

Basics on Summer School:

Beginning Monday, June 6th, we’ll provide (16) days of instruction on Monday - Thursday mornings from 8:30a-12:00p, primarily focusing on core reading, writing and mathematical skills.

MMCA Children’s House Enrollment Open for the 2022-2023 School Year

To enroll in the preschool, children must be potty-trained and 3.5-5 years old in mid-August. Preschool spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis. We only have a few spots available - sign up now before it’s too late.

Watch D.O.G.S.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Mr. Ballard, Mr. Rebuck, Mr. Sandhu, Mr. Rushing and Mr. Hess for volunteering this week. We appreciate you very much!
