Fundraising Information back to top
Given the current state of the economy
and the state budget crisis, fundraising has become a necessary realty, even for
public schools. Knowing the financial difficulties many of our M.M.C.A.
families are experiencing, we try encourage “in-kind” oriented fundraising
(meaning most of our fundraising is based on parental expenditures that they
would have to do regardless of the school). These in-kind programs include
“BoxTops for Education,” “Campbell’s Soup Labels,” scrip and e-scrip. We have a
couple “office-oriented” fundraisers (See’s Candy and the Cookie Dough sale,
both of which M.M.C.A. receives 50% of all sales). We use car washes to
pay for our 5th graders trip to camp. And finally, we have a couple “big
ticket” items (the Fall Silent Auction and the State Budget Deficit capital
campaign). Silent Auction back to topThe 6th Annual Silent Auction will
happen in Spring 2010. We're looking for volunteers to help us in the
planning and organization of the event. If you are interested in helping
out, please contact Holly Cheney at

Capital Campaign back to topSo as not to force us to possibly
jeopardize the qualities of our school that make us so strong (multiple teacher
classrooms, individualized instruction, etc.), this fall we are going to
continue the “$1 a day” campaign. If every family donated $1 per student, per
school day, M.M.C.A would receive about $30,000. Since M.M.C.A. is a non-profit
public school, contributions to M.M.C.A. are tax deductible. In the interim, if you would like more information, please
email brent@mmcharter.org. See's Candy back to topSee's Candy will be sold right around the Easter Holiday. Campbell's Soup LabelsCampbell's Soup Company has developed a program to help schools. It's called Labels for Education. This program is similar to the Box Tops for Education program, in that you cut labels off of certain products are send them to your child's school. The school can then turn in these labels to get "Credits". These credits can be used to purchase valuable merchandise to further your child's education. The products range from electronics, art & music materials, math & science materials, PE equipment, and much more. When you think of Campbell's what do you immediately think of? Soup! But there are so many other products that are eligible: Franco-American; Pepperidge Farm; Pace; Market Day; V8; Prego, and Swanson. To see which part of the label to cut and save, please refer to the eligible products link below. Please help us out by cutting your labels and sending them in with your child. There will be a Campbell's Soup Label Box in the office. And remember, it's at no additional cost to you, you have already purchased the products as part of your grocery shopping experience. If you think cutting the labels off is a tedious task for you, then have your children cut the labels off and everyone can feel proud for helping to support their school.
BoxTops for EducationBox Tops for Education is an easy way to raise money for our school. If everyone pitched in and cut the tops off of the participating products, we'd be able to have a lot of money available for our school to purchase much needed materials. It's such a simple program. Each classroom has a Box Tops container that your child can turn them into. The Box Top Coordinator then picks them up and turns them in for cash. As you can see, we made about $100 last year. Our goal for this year is $300. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents, so that would mean we would need to bring in 3,000 Box Tops. That may seem like a lot, but when you break it down into a per child amount, it's only 16.6 Box Tops. And be on the look out for those Box Tops that are worth DOUBLE! Did you know that there are hundreds of products from General Mills that participate in Box Tops? Check out your cereal boxes, your Pillsbury cookie/dough containers, your flour and Betty Crocker baking items, your dinners in a box, and those yummy snacks you eat. Before you throw another wrapper away, look for that Box Top. So you think taking the time to cut out a Box Top is too much work? Have your children do it! Make it one of their daily chores. But most of all, feel proud that you are helping to support the school without having to open up your pocket book for extra money...you already paid for the food! How simple is that? Update: The following links will take you to a page to show you how you can help our school raise funds (overview) and printable page that has a list of all the eligible products.
Printer Cartridges / Used Cell Phones...Before you throw out that old cell phone or empty printer cartridge, remember that it can be recycled at our school, and we get money for it! Work in a large office building? Talk to your employer about recycling your cartridges through your child's school to help us raise money. (Pull those heart strings!)
