Materials Lists back to top

For each of our grade levels, we have a materials list for the 2008-2009 school year.  Each of these lists is divided into three categories:

  1. Individual materials
  2. Shared classroom materials
  3. Shared school materials

Please note: M.M.C.A. parents may order their child(ren)’s school supplies through the M.M.C.A. PTA!  PTA goes out and purchases all the classroom materials for each student prior to school starting. If you choose to order these materials through MMCA, the materials will be directly integrated into your child's classroom. That means no hassle of shopping to find the right things. Let MMCA do the shopping for you. It will save you time and money, not to mention a few headaches! They do this for two reasons:

1. To help the teachers by making sure each child has the necessary and same materials for day to day class work
2. To help the parents by not having to go to 5 different stores getting the specialty items on the list!

You can but your supplies through PTA in a variety of ways:

  • You can click on the appropriate grade level list below, print it out, fill it out and mail it back to the Sunset Campus.
  • You can go the the PTA Store webpage and buy the school supply lists you need online with your credit card or debit card.
  • You can pay for them at our Parent Information Night on Monday, August 20 at the Rocklin Elementary Multi-Purpose Room.

Lunch Links back to top

At M.M.C.A., our lunch and snack times are somewhat unique in that we emphasize the “grace and courtesy” aspect of the Montessori philosophy during our eating times.  For a more detailed discussion of our Lunch and snack policy, please click here.

In addition to the traditional “sack lunch”, M.M.C.A. has Hot Lunch available Monday through Friday through Rockllin Unified School District. All money collected goes directly to RUSD, MMCA makes no profit off of the hot lunch program run by RUSD.

Volunteering back to top

As a parentally-controlled public school, M.M.C.A. could not operate without the valued contributions of our parents.  We are truly a community school in the best sense of the term.  For more information about volunteering, please click here.

Discipline Policy back to top

As a small, parents-based school, M.M.C.A. emphasizes a pro-active discipline policy.  Parental Communication is vital to the Policy’s success.  To view our Discipline Policy for the 2008-2009 school year, please click here.

Preschools back to top

While it is a long-term goal for M.M.C.A. to house a pre-school program, we do not have the physical space to accommodate the program at this time.  For parents seeking a Montessori option for their pre-K child(ren), we offer this list of the local Montessori pre-school programs.  As a public Montessori school, we will not recommend one school versus another.

Field Trips back to top

The frequency with which we go on Field Trips, especially in our younger classrooms, is one of the big attractions of our school.  If you have lost the permission slip that was sent home for one of your child(ren)’s field trips, please click on this form here and FAX it to the office (phone number coming soon).

Medication back to top

If your child has a medical condition that requires either over-the-counter or prescription medication, the M.M.C.A. Office Team will be happy to dispense medication to your child.  ALL Medication is stored in a locked cabinet in the MMCA office.  AT NO TIME ARE STUDENTS ALLOWED TO POSSESS THEIR OWN MEDICATION.  Before medication can be dispensed, parents need to fill out our Medication Dispensing form, included here.

After School Care back to top

We will be offering a Before & After School Care Program this school year.

The hours are: 7:00-8:30 am for before care and 3:00-6:00 for after care. There is after care available for Kindergarteners from 2:00-3:00 for a minimal charge. If you choose to have your kindergarten enrolled in the after care portion from 3-6 pm, the regular rate will also apply.

We’re pleased to introduce Ray Baldonade as the Director of our Before/After Care program.

 The prices are as follows:

  • Before care: $9 per day/child

  • After care: $17 per day/child

  • Kindergarten (2-3pm): $3 for the hour.

Minimum Days: $25 per child

There is an enrollment fee of $50 PER FAMILY, made payable to MMCA. This fee is to be turned in with your enrollment paperwork. This fee covers the costs of the games, activities, and materials the program offers.

Our Traditional School Day After School Care schedule looks like:

3:00 – 3:45             Check in, outdoor play
3:45 – 4:00             Snack time (parent provided)
4:004:30             Homework time, quiet play, reading
4:30 – 5:30             Play time, games, organized activity/craft
5:30 – 6:00            Clean up and Quiet Time

If your child is not picked up by 6:00 pm, there will be a fee of $1 per minute that will incur until you pick up your child.

Since we are all on one campus this year, picking up your child will be much easier! School gets out at 3:00 pm. Pick up is from 3:00 to 3:20, which should give you ample time to come and get your child. If you are not here by 3:20 to pick up your child, they will be “enrolled” in after school care. You will incur a cost of $5 if you arrive between 3:20 and 3:45 pm. You will need to park your car and sign your child out of after school care. If you arrive after 3:45, you will be charged the daily rate of $17 for after school care. Hopefully this will curb the late pick ups at school.

With school starting at 8:30, the earliest you can drop your child off at school is 8:10 am for them to be supervised on the playground by MMCA staff. If you are dropping your child off any earlier than 8:10, they will be placed in before care and charged the before care rate of $9 per child per day. At 8:30 they will be released to go to their respective classrooms.

Besides the childcare component, we’re looking to integrate some supplemental instruction / enrichment programs as well. This is all still in the planning stage and we hope to have more information as the school year has started.

Supplemental Instruction: might be offered during the 2008-2009 school year

For those enrolling in After School Care, we are going to offer some subject-based supplemental instructional time  with one of our classroom teachers!  Tutoring will be done in small groups and will include both remedial and enrichment instruction (depending on the individual student’s needs).  Each day will have a different theme (example: Monday Math, Tuesday Language Arts).  We’ll be finalizing the schedule in early August, and we'll let parents know at our Informational Night.

Possible Enrichment Programs:  might be offered during the 2008-2009 school year

We are currently gauging the interest for bringing a piano teacher (and possibly violin and voice) to school 1-2 times per week, depending on interest.  If there’s enough interest, we’ll offer a joint enrichment / after school care enrollment option this fall (example: $17/day for A.S.C., $27/day for A.S.C. + piano lesson).  If you are interested in your child(ren) receiving piano lessons (and possibly violin, voice) at school, check back at a later date.

If you want to have your child attend our before and/or after care program, please go to our website, _____fill out the enrollment form and calendar, and mail with your enrollment fee of $50 to: 1850 Wildcat Blvd. Rocklin, CA 95765 ASAP.

For questions about Before/After Care, please contact Mr. Boothby at brent@mmcharter.org
