PTA and Fundraising
Welcome to the MMCA Parent Teacher Association! Have you ever
wondered what the PTA does? Have you thought about getting more
involved with MMCA? Check out the links on this page to find out
more about what we do and how you can be a part of it. Getting
involved is a great way to meet other families, while supporting
your child's education, and MMCA!

Given the current state of the economy and the state budget crisis,
fundraising has become a necessary realty, even for public schools.
Knowing the financial difficulties many of our M.M.C.A. families are
experiencing, we try encourage “in-kind” oriented fundraising
(meaning most of our fundraising is based on parental expenditures
that they would have to do regardless of the school). These
in-kind programs include “BoxTops for Education,” “Campbell’s Soup
Labels,” scrip and e-scrip. We have a couple “office-oriented”
fundraisers (See’s Candy and the Cookie Dough sale, both of which
M.M.C.A. receives 50% of all sales). We use car washes to pay
for our 5th
graders trip to camp. And finally, we have a couple “big
ticket” items (the Fall Silent Auction and the State Budget Deficit
capital campaign).

Box Tops for Education is an easy way to raise money for our school.
If everyone pitched in and cut the tops off of the participating
products, we'd be able to have a lot of money available for our
school to purchase much needed materials.
It's such a simple program. Each classroom has a Box Tops container
that your child can turn them into. The Box Top Coordinator then
picks them up and turns them in for cash. As you can see, we made
about $100 last year. Our goal for this year is $300. Each Box Top
is worth 10 cents, so that would mean we would need to bring in
3,000 Box Tops. That may seem like a lot, but when you break it down
into a per child amount, it's only 16.6 Box Tops. And be on the look
out for those Box Tops that are worth DOUBLE!
Did you know that there are hundreds of products from General Mills
that participate in Box Tops? Check out your cereal boxes, your
Pillsbury cookie/dough containers, your flour and Betty Crocker
baking items, your dinners in a box, and those yummy snacks you eat.
Before you throw another wrapper away, look for that Box Top.
So you think taking the time to cut out a Box Top is too much work?
Have your children do it! Make it one of their daily chores. But
most of all, feel proud that you are helping to support the school
without having to open up your pocket book for extra money...you
already paid for the food! How simple is that?
Update:
The following links will take you to a page to show you how you can
help our school raise funds (overview) and printable page that has a
list of all the eligible products.

Before you throw out that old cell phone or empty printer cartridge,
remember that it can be recycled at our school, and we get money for
it! Work in a large office building? Talk to your employer about
recycling your cartridges through your child's school to help us
raise money. (Pull those heart strings!)
